Grand Opening!!

So here is the Grand Opening!

You can see the signs for it from the interstate

They had a water slide, a bouncing castle, cotton candy, snow cones and popcorn

The shelter is really nice. There was a live band playing Christian music. Sounded like K-Love

The basketball and volleyball courts were a hit!
Water slide

Uncle Curtis came by with his partner to get a peek at the park. There were free hot dogs, chips, drinks cookies and brownies for everyone.

Sarah loved the big slide and wasn't a bit timid about going down by herself

Dave's Latest Project

This is the site of a big project that Dave has had a large hand in creating. A local church decided to have as its summer missions project an outreach to the community by building a multi-use park right next to their church. The youth and many members have been involved in the building and construction but Dave's company has been the primary contractor. One of the owners as well as the company's lawyer attend the church and have donated a good bit of equipment. There will be a basketball court, an outdoor fire pit and a skateboarding ramp section as well when it is all finished. They are making it available to the community and plan an opening this weekend.

The project was featured on WAVY TV-10 last night as well as on K-LOVE.

Dave oversaw and did the bulk of the work on the main playground, the beams of the shelter, the roof, and nearly all of the volleyball court, digging it out, putting down the sand and framing it out.

I got to go up to the top level. There will be a nice tower top to finish it off.

This shows the underside of the large picnic shelter, complete with fireplace. I love the ceiling!

This is the volleyball court

This smaller playground was what they used to have but all new mulch and the border were added as well as the smaller pieces of equipment.

The Stites crew on vacation

Beth, TJ and the kids spent their annual week at the beach at Duck, NC with the extended Stites family.

July 9, 2008

Papa has been hard at work in North Carolina. These are two new cabinets he created for the kitchen set up. The one is next to the back door and used to be hanging on the wall next to the fridge. It was replaced by the larger cabinet which displays some of the dishes. In the dining room you will see the nice set of china that Rosie and Jerry gave him.

Corrie, Curtis and Mama came down for the weekend following the 4th. It was a nice relaxing time. We even took time to climb the oak in the front yard. Had a nice day at the beach, met up with Jody, Mandy and Dave (who came down on the 3rd for some vacation time) Dave and Papa went clamming on the 5th and Papa made clam fritters and clam chowder. YUM! We also met up with Sarah, Barry's daughter, and went to see Get Smart. Curtis and Corrie brought down the Wii and they taught Mama how to play some of the games... bowling, and shooting and tanks.

There were some nice thunder boomers too.

Nice vacation!

Sarah is such a lady!

Sarah presented Josh with his diploma. Not a shred of shyness!

Three years old already, Sarah is girl, through and through.
